About Learn Swedish with Stories

Hi, I'm Elias.

I'm a Swede who loves learning languages. While learning Spanish, I noticed that reading stories at different difficulty levels is both an effective and a fun way to learn a language. There are plenty of resources for learning Spanish, but I couldn't find anything similar for Swedish. Since so many people in Sweden are learning the language, I decided to build it.

How it works

Reading is one of the most enjoyable ways to build your Swedish, and it works best alongside classes, grammar practice and real conversations. Here's what reading stories adds:

Words come with a context. You don't just learn what a word means, but when and how it's used. That's what makes it stick.

Grammar becomes easier to recognise. When you've seen the same structure in a few stories, the rule you learn in class suddenly makes more sense, and it's easier to remember.

Repetition happens naturally. Each story is built around one theme, so the key words come back several times without feeling like drills.

You want to keep reading. It's easier to stay motivated when you're curious about what happens next, rather than working through another grammar book.

Many learners find that reading makes speaking easier, too. The words and phrases you meet in stories are the ones you'll later recognise, and use, in conversation.

Who it's for

SFI students, newcomers to Sweden, people moving here for work or love, and anyone who wants to learn Swedish by actually reading it.
